I wanted to share with you the reason or at least the meaning of why we tie our belt the way we do. I think about this every time I tie my belt on and I hope from now on you will also. So we all know the belt starts in front, wraps around your back and then comes back in front. It essentially looks like you have 3 belts wrapped around your waist. I want you to think of this as representing the 2 belts you wear all the time. One belt you wear around your waist and the other you wear around your heart. The one you wear around your heart means your belt is always with you. You are always a martial artist even when you are done class and you take your physical belt off. If you refer to the picture down below I am now referencing step 6 and 7. You have the 2 ends of the belt. I want you to think of these representing the student and instructor. You cross them and then tie the knot which symbolizes the bond between the instructor and the student.
